On October 27, 2024, the “Legal Knowledge Lecture” jointly sponsored by the New York Legal Aid Center and Queens Library was successfully held at the Flushing Library. The event focused on legal issues concerning residents, such as real estate, immigration, and rental disputes, and provided free consulting services, attracting many residents to participate.

The event specially invited three senior lawyers from ILEAD Law Group to serve as lecturers, providing professional guidance to residents. Ms. Claire Guan from the real estate department of ILEAD Law Firm explained the real estate laws and regulations in detail, helping residents understand the key legal knowledge in real estate transactions. Ms. Xin Miao, Secretary-General of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce and an immigration law expert, introduced the latest changes in immigration policies and answered questions related to immigration law. Mr. Adam Chen, director of the New York Legal Aid Center, analyzed the disputes between landlords and tenants and provided practical legal advice for residents.

The content of the lecture was based on practical cases and covered common legal issues in residents’ lives. Combining their rich practical experience and vivid case analysis, the three lawyers helped participants deepen their understanding of legal provisions. In the on-site interaction session, residents actively asked questions, and the ILEAD lawyer team also provided one-on-one free legal consultations, answering many practical problems and helping residents solve legal puzzles.

This lecture was strongly supported by the New York Legal Aid Center, ILEAD Law Group, and the Asian American Bar Association, reflecting the importance of community legal education by various units. The event not only improved residents’ understanding of the law but also enhanced their ability to deal with legal matters. In the future, ILEAD Law Group will continue to participate in and support such public welfare activities to provide more legal support and assistance to the community.
